Don’t Stretch Too Far

We’ve heard it time and time before: it’s extremely important to stretch before and after your work out. It increases your flexibility, prevents future injuries, reduces stress and increases your range of motion. We are told that we should do but we aren’t warned enough about what we shouldn’t do.

Don’t stretch yourself too far. It’s important to listen to what your body is telling you. Stretch should cause discomfort, not pain. If you feel too much pain odds are that you aren’t stretch correctly. The American Council on Exercise recommends that you don’t stretch cold muscles. Do some light jogging before stretching to warm up your muscles. This will prevent future injury such as strains, pulls, and tears.
