Old School Whitney

A lot of us remem­ber Whit­ney Hous­ton for many of the things that have hap­pened to her in recent years (drug prob­lems, run-ins with the law, etc.). So let’s remem­ber the good times:

Did you know that Whit­ney won six Grammy Awards, two Emmy Awards, 30 Bill­board Music Awards, and won 22 Amer­i­can Music Awards. She also had the best sell­ing debut album by a female vocal­ist at the time of its release in 1985 and her sec­ond album debuted at #1 on the Bill­board album charts. Oh, and did I men­tion she sold over 200 MILLION albums?!

Whit­ney started work­ing as a backup singer at age 14. She sang backup for the Michael Zager Band at 14 and Chaka Khan on “I’m Every Woman” at 15.

But before she EVER became famous, she was a backup singer in a TV com­mer­cial for the leg­endary “Canada Dry” ginger-ale.
