A lot of us remember Whitney Houston for many of the things that have happened to her in recent years (drug problems, run-ins with the law, etc.). So let’s remember the good times:
Did you know that Whitney won six Grammy Awards, two Emmy Awards, 30 Billboard Music Awards, and won 22 American Music Awards. She also had the best selling debut album by a female vocalist at the time of its release in 1985 and her second album debuted at #1 on the Billboard album charts. Oh, and did I mention she sold over 200 MILLION albums?!
Whitney started working as a backup singer at age 14. She sang backup for the Michael Zager Band at 14 and Chaka Khan on “I’m Every Woman” at 15.
But before she EVER became famous, she was a backup singer in a TV commercial for the legendary “Canada Dry” ginger-ale.
