Top 10 PIRATED Movies of 2011

TorrentFreak.com has come out with their list of the Top 10 Pirated Movies of 2011. Topping the charts this year were the boyz of this movie:

Yup, “Fast Five” was the #1 most pirated movie of 2011. It was illegally downloaded 9.8 million times. Let’s say that each movie would be $20 each if the person bought it instead of illegally downloaded it. That would mean that the studio lost $196,000,000 in revenue. Wow.

Here is how the rest of the Top 10 shaped up:

2. “The Hangover Part II” — 8.8 million illegal downloads
3. “Thor” — 8.3 million
4. “Source Code” — 7.9 million
5. “I Am Number Four” — 7.6 million
6. “Sucker Punch” — 7.2 million
7. “127 Hours” — 6.9 million
8. “Rango” — 6.4 million
9. “The King’s Speech” — 6.2 million
10. “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II” — 6.0 million

Some of the bigger movies actually didn’t end up on the list, like “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” and “Transformers: The Dark Side of the Moon”.

What I think is interesting is that this TorrentFreak.com website can somehow keep track of all of these illegal downloads. You would think that if they could keep track of them that they would also be able to figure out the exact person that is doing it. I would think that the studios would LOVE to know this.
